The race is held on the Hong Kong section of the bridge-tunnel system and holds World Athletics Platinum Label Road Race status. The athletics association says it hopes to meet runners on the course every year.
For 2026 the participant quota is expanded to 10,000 and a 10km race is added. Elite runners are invited from across the world, and AsiaWorld-Expo lists halls for the event.
